Full travel details and useful info: Coming to NeoRio and The Ice Cream Olympics

We’re looking forward to seeing you this Saturday and we’re hoping you’ll have fun so here’s a few things to help make the day as enjoyable as possible.

Please try to let us know you’re coming:   To save time and so we have a sense of numbers, we hope you will register in advance – you can download the registration form here and bring it with you or fill it in online and we’ll get it automatically.

Forms will be available at the event but it is important teams fill in the form before taking part so we hope this will save you some time.  You can also email us for a form or just to confirm your attendance or call Ocho – 575 586 2049 or cell:  575 495 1481.

Important: We are providing a free dinner in the evening (6pm Montoso Campground) but during the day you should bring any refreshments ( food / drink)  you might need. The Wild Rivers Visitor Center has basic drinks and snacks (water, Gatorade and granola bars) but its the end of the season so better to be prepared.

1. Have you got a team? We recommend 4 people and we have games suitable for most ages and abilities. You can play with less than four but you just might have to do more work as you will have less people to roll the ice cream balls to churn your ice cream.

Don’t have a team – Don’t worry we’re sure there will be others on the day who aren’t in a team and we will be happy to help make teams at the beginning of the day.

Don’t want to play? That’s ok – come along and support a team. Pick a team and follow their progress throughout the day and cheer them onto success!

2. Have you got your Olympic flavor ready? We hope that you have been able to use Wonder Woman’s Olympic Tryout instructions to develop your flavor from local ingredients. We have some back-up flavours so you can still play but choices will be limited.

Remember the Olympic games are not about the fastest team – its about having fun while exploring local ingredients. What’s important  is the most interesting combination of local ingredients! We have the basics for ice cream but its your unique additions that will make them truly Olympian. – these can be grown in your garden or bought from a local producer.

We have created a number of games, team against team as wells as games a team can play together considering ‘children’ of all ages and abilities.  There’s also art activities, a fun interactive receipe box and face painting. So come along – we hope you’ll join us.

Want more info or something not clear just give us a call: Ocho – 575 586 2049 or cell:  575 495 1481.

Are you an Olympian?

PrintOur Olympic event is nearly here. We’re just finalising flags and certificates, trophies and prizes.

Are you finalising your Olympic recipe? If you haven’t started yet don’t worry you still have time. Why not download Wonder Woman’s easy peasy Olympic tryout instructions and have a go?

It takes about 10 mins in total from ingredients to eating and it’s a great way to try out new combinations.

We’ve been developing games to help with the ice cream churning and a big thanks to Rocky Mountain Youth Corps for helping to test them out.  Playful competition is the name of the game, with team games and game stations such as Prairie Dog ten pins, the Wildcat ‘Walk’, the Rattler relay and more.

Any questions about participating or how to get to the event -  just email or give us a call here at OCHO,  575 586 2049 – we’d love to here from you.

We look forward to tasting your unique combination – remember by local it can be just grown locally. It doesn’t have to be a native plant.

Ice Cream Friends Across the Nation!

LiliCheck out this fabulous blog,  by a really gifted artist / animator who makes amazing ice cream as a hobby –

You can see more of Lili’s work here

So why am I flagging up Lili’s blog,? Well not only because its a great blog but Lili’s helping to  spread the word about The Ice Cream Olympics event – and the education program crowd funding campaign –

I reached out to Lili and her blog followers as we have only til 11.59pm Sunday. That’s 60 hrs to raise the final $2650 ( £1669 or €1992) that will help us deliver the complete education program.

We’ve started any way with what we have  – on Wed we are taking 35 young biologists on  an edible / medicinal landscape hike, then back to school in the afternoon to make Ice Cream from nut milks we are teaching them to make. This is just the beginning.

So if you think this is worthwhile and you can please, consider donating - and help create a legacy.

Thanks, Anita
